MEIRSS (Middle East Institute for Research and Strategic Studies), and CFRI – Centre français de recherche sur l’Irak , with the collaboration of the Department D’Histoire-Relations Internationales of USJ, organized a groundbreaking Round Table event aimed at shedding light on the role of women during the 2019 revolutions in Lebanon and Iraq. The event, which took place on May 5th at 9:30 AM at USJ Sciences Humaines, Salle polyvalente, brought together two teams of women from Iraq and Lebanon.
The Round Table event served as a platform for open discussions and insightful exchanges, offering attendees a unique opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from women who actively participated in the revolutions. With a focus on the experiences of women during this transformative period, the event delved into the socio-political landscapes of both nations, exploring the impact of women’s activism in shaping the future of Lebanon and Iraq.
By amplifying the voices of women who contributed to the revolutions, MEIRSS and CFRI aimed to inspire further dialogue and collaboration among activists, researchers, and policymakers.
