In line with USAID lebanon’s work to improve the business and investment enabling environment in Lebanon, TIF signed an MoU with the Middle East Institute for Research and Strategic Studies (MEIRSS) to support them in conducting a legal and technical review of Energy Law 462.

Lebanon has been facing a severe energy crisis which has led to frequent power outages and disruptions in people’s daily lives. In response, the government has been implementing several measures to address the crisis, including the enactment of Energy Law 462 in 2002. However, there have been concerns about the law’s effectiveness in meeting the country’s energy needs and improving the energy sector’s overall performance.

Our work with MEIRSS will help in identifying areas for improvement and result in a set of recommendations for policymakers.
