Magnitsky Act

The Global Magnitsky Act initially referred to gross violations of internationally recognized human rights, as well as acts of significant corruption committed by foreign individuals or entities. Yet the Reauthorization Act, enacted on April 8, 2022, has rendered the Act permanent, implementing the standard serious human rights abuse, and authorizing the President as well to impose sanctions even on the designee’s immediate family members responsible for such abuse.
